27/06/2019

Whether you're interested in a city break or a regular trip, knowing the place that you are about to visit will come in handy. You must know dining spots, transport services, accommodations, and much more details. There are so many things that you must know before you visit Spain because you don't want to waste your precious time. Let's get started with the things that you must learn.

Learn a few simple Spanish phrases

We do think that English is widely spoken so you can manage yourself in Spain if you know English. Well, you've got it wrong because not all Spaniards speak English. Like in some European countries don't speak English as you assume, so it is better to learn a few simple Spanish phrases before visiting Spain. For example, you can learn a few greetings, the way to ask direction, to ask the price and so on. You must focus on the common phrases that you'd have to use often and with locals who have no knowledge of English.

They don't eat on time

If you compare your mealtime with Spaniard, you will spot the difference. They eat late, unlike people from other countries. They eat lunch at around 2-4 PM and dinner at 9 PM. If you are planning to stay for a week or two, it is important to be aware of the mealtime as they don't eat on time. But if you are cooking for yourself, then you don't have to worry about the mealtime, but if you are eating out, you must know these details. In most places, you can't find a place to eat if you don't know their meal time.

Rely on public transport

Some countries in Asia don't have good public transport, so it is difficult for travelers. On the other hand, Spain has excellent public transport that you can gladly rely on. If you use public transport, you will be able to enjoy your journey to the maximum because it is one of the easiest ways to travel without spending too. If you want to get around the country, you can easily get into a bus or other public transport options. You can get tickets from many places, but it is better to look up for it before you visit Spain.

The pickpocket problem

If you are planning to visit cities like Madrid and Barcelona you have to be aware of their pickpocket problem. Even though this problem is not common to all the cities, you have to be careful. The tourists often targeted because it is apparent that they are new to the country. This is why you have to be aware of the city and the problems. If you are aware of the problem, you can prepare yourself to face it. You must ensure that your valuables are safe. You can have a cross-body bag or a belt to keep your money. When you are walking in a crowded place, be cautious about the people around you.

Don't rely on shops in the midday

You can't expect to purchase anything in the midday because often shops are closed in the midday. They close it for a couple of hours, so if you are planning to purchase something between 1-4 PM, you have to change the time or get it done in the morning. Often Spaniards in smaller towns prefer taking lunch breaks, and they prefer long breaks. If you are in some big city, you can try purchasing in supermarkets or big shops as they will be open. However, you should note that the shops are open until 10 PM.

Opinionated, but friendly

Spaniards are friendly, but they might be opinionated. Sometimes you might not even need their opinions, yet they will say it because that's how they are. If you encounter something like this, don't be angry or offended rather put up with it.
